Playgroup Meets Power Cooking

As you saw in a previous post Power Cooking to the Rescue I had a Pampered Chef party and Cindy taught us how to Power Cook.  Well my friend Ryan ran with it, and just the other day her, I and two of our friends got together and cooked while the kids played.  All three of us walked away with 3 pre-made meals for future suppers, and boy was it fun!!

3 of us brought 1 recipe with a printout to share, enough ingredients to make 4 meals out of it, aluminum tins or Ziploc bags to store the results in for future meals, and extra pots & utensils for cooking.  We had 3 cooks and 1 dishwasher, and the arrangement worked out perfectly.  Any more than three cooks would have made it impossible in my opinion.

So my Mom friends and I got to cooking and here’s the recipes we chose:

  • Easy Beef Stroganoff
  • Pizza Casserole

  • Chicken Dorito Casserole
    • Preheat oven 350
    • Grease bottom of dish
    • Boil 3 to 4 boneless chic. breasts
    • In a separate pan (until smooth) combine
      • 10 oz can of Rotel tomatoes
      • 10 oz of cream of chic. or mushroom
      • 2 cups of Velvetta cheese
      • add chicken all cut up
    • Layer doritos in the bottom of casserole dish
    • Layer sauce on top of Doritos.
    • Heat until hot and bubbly

Not only did we have meals for 3 nights, but we enjoyed cooking while we talked.  If I got the opportunity to chat with my friends while cooking I think I would do it more often.  As a matter a fact we are thinking about doing it again and I can’t wait!!

Believe it or not after cooking we still had time to sit down and just rest while the kids continued to play.  Talk about multi-tasking!!  We watched kids, fed them lunch, cooked, and relaxed all in a matter of a few hours.  We are women hear us ROAR!!  :)

Have you done anything unique during playgroup time and if so please tell me about it!!

I used Nacho Cheese Doritos, but I’m sure any flavor would do. Also instead of putting them on the bottom of the pan I put them in a separate dish on the table. Then I warmed the mixture and put it into bowls. That way the Doritos stayed crunchy and the boys enjoyed dipping. I have also seen this recipe used as an appetizer with ground beef instead of chicken. If your daughter tries it please let me know what she thinks!!
